The appropriate transport method depends on the product's properties, quantity, packaging, origin, destination and the rules that apply to the chosen route.
1. Confirm the product's transport classification
Do not assume that every nicotine-related material has identical transport requirements. The supplier and a qualified dangerous-goods specialist should determine the applicable transport classification using the actual product composition and relevant regulations. If dangerous-goods rules apply, packaging, marks, labels and transport documents must meet the requirements for the chosen mode of transport.
2. Request a complete shipping quotation
Ask the supplier or freight forwarder to specify the transport mode, estimated transit time, freight charges, handling fees and any other quoted costs. Confirm which charges are included and which may be payable separately. Transit estimates should be treated as estimates rather than guarantees.
3. Clarify delivery terms
If Incoterms are used, confirm the named place and the applicable version in the quotation or contract. The parties should understand their respective responsibilities for transport, export and import formalities, costs and risk transfer under the agreed term. Avoid relying on an Incoterm abbreviation without its named place.
4. Verify the document package
Depending on the shipment, the importer may need a commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, COA, SDS and additional permits or declarations. The supplier and logistics provider should agree on the document list before dispatch. Any required customs or regulatory approval should be obtained in advance.
5. Check route and payment feasibility
International routes, carriers, insurance, banks and payment arrangements may be affected by sanctions or other restrictions involving Russia. The importer should confirm that the transaction and all involved parties are permitted under the applicable rules. A freight quotation alone does not establish that a shipment or payment is legally permissible.
6. Confirm MOQ, packaging and delivery schedule
Before placing an order, obtain written confirmation of the MOQ, quantity, packaging format, lead time, delivery basis and quotation validity. Ensure that packaging is suitable for the product and complies with applicable transport requirements.
